Information for Overseas Pilots

Whether you want to enjoy New Zealand from the air on a short flight, hire an aircraft for a trip or are planning on moving to New Zealand permanently, Greymouth Aero Club can help.

Temporary Visitors

In addition to full licence conversions, the NZ CAA offer Validation Permits to foreign pilots which allows them to fly here in NZ. A short term validation is not a licence but a short term document that allows a foreign licence holder to exercise the privileges of their license. This document is valid for up to 6 months.

The process is simple. Produce your current overseas licence and medical, meet NZ PPL requirements, complete a form and conduct a Biennial Flight Review.

How to convert your PPL

Converting your licence allows you to be issued with a lifetime NZ PPL Licence. The qualify for this you must Produce your current overseas licence and medical, meet NZ PPL requirements, complete a form and conduct a Biennial Flight Review.

In some cases you may require additional training on top of your conversion in order to meet NZ standards and syllabus items such as mountain and instrument flying.
